A CarChallenge Expedition across both North and South Island, designed to be driven any time of year. We pre-route the journey, book characterful stays, and stand by 24/7 while you travel either solo or in a small group. Drive your own vehicle (we can ship it) or take a well-specified 4×4 rental.
You’ll receive a fully scouted route, an offline roadbook with waypoints, and practical briefings. We keep organisation active in the background—permits, ferries, local logistics—so each day stays composed. Choose a start date that suits you; we can arrange a group edition or set this up as a private expedition.
Expect a balanced mix of good to exceptional hotels—two-night pauses where the setting deserves it—so you can slow down, explore, or add optional flights and cruises. Distances are set to leave room for unplanned stops (and the right light).
Bring your own car (we arrange shipping to Auckland and return from Christchurch, including biosecurity) or choose a capable rental such as a Land Rover Defender or Ford Ranger, approved for gravel, beaches, and inter-island travel.
We brief you on timing for 90 Mile Beach and other seasonal considerations; remote segments come with sensible cautions and our on-call support. Pricing varies with dates, hotel availability, and whether you ship your car or rent locally.
