A CarChallenge Expedition through Namibia, Botswana and South Africa—available year-round. We pre-route the journey, secure permits, and stand by 24/7 while you travel solo or in a small group (max. 6 cars). Bring your own vehicle (we arrange shipping) or choose a well-specified 4×4 rental.
You’ll receive a fully scouted route, an offline roadbook for tablet navigation, and clear briefings. On select days a local guide joins you; the rest of the time we support remotely. Every team carries a satellite tracker so assistance is always within reach. Hotel-only or a hotel-and-camping mix is possible.
Namibia: Walvis Bay shake-down; Brandberg and Twyfelfontein; Kaokoland wildlife tracks; Skeleton Coast to Purros; Etosha’s west and east.
Botswana: Okavango Delta self-drive in Moremi, Chobe wildlife routes, and the crossing of the Makgadikgadi salt pans via Kubu Island.
Kgalagadi & South Africa: Remote tracks to Nossob and Twee Rivieren before re-entering Namibia.
Deep Namib dunes: A five-day, permit-only dune section near Lüderitz with our on-site team setting camp and cooking over open fire—one of the most exclusive overland experiences in the region. Finish at Sossusvlei and Windhoek.
Expect a balanced mix of character lodges (with options like Shipwreck Lodge, Hoanib Valley Camp, Etosha lodges) and simple overnights where remoteness asks for it; camping is optional and fully supported in the dunes. Daily distances are set for unhurried travel and time to explore.
A capable 4×4 is required—think Land Cruiser, Defender, Hilux—with good all-terrain tires, underbody protection and sensible clearance. Bring your own (we handle shipping and customs) or opt for a rental prepared for gravel, sand and park rules.
Pre-trip inspections, permits (including the restricted dune sector), hotel bookings, optional camping logistics, border procedures, satellite tracking, and on-call technical support. You focus on the drive; we keep the logistics quiet in the background.
