Africa Expedition 2023

In November 2023 we completed a four week overland Expedition across Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa, beginning in Walvis Bay and finishing in Windhoek. Participants drove capable 4x4s, either shipped from Europe or arranged as rentals, and travelled in a very small group with satellite tracking and local partner support. Key sections included self drive days in the Okavango Delta, the crossing of the Makgadikgadi salt pans, and a multi day dune segment in the restricted Namib Desert.

Organisation stayed mostly in the background with a guide present on select stages and remote assistance on others. Overnight stays ranged from characterful lodges to simple camps, with the option to choose a full hotel itinerary or a mixed hotel and camping setup. The focus was steady distance, strong routes, and calm logistics, so the landscapes and the driving could take the lead.
