We started in Paramaribo and traced a three-week arc through Suriname, Guyana, Brazil, and French Guiana. Early days eased into the jungle climate before the push west to Georgetown and south on the laterite road toward Brazil. Manaus offered a pause and two hotel nights, then the route followed BR-319 and the Transamazônica toward Santarém, with a slow Amazon ferry crossing and hammocks on deck as part of the rhythm.
Camping was the norm, with simple, well-placed hotels where useful. Daily briefings set the next waypoint, navigation ran on an offline roadbook with Maps.me, and radio or satellite contact bridged the remote stretches. The return swung through Macapá, Oiapoque, and Kourou before closing in Paramaribo. Organisation stayed active in the background, with a small support team and clear contingency plans when weather or roads asked for them.
