The Amazone Challenge 2020

We started and finished in Paramaribo, sending cars ahead and setting out from Royal Torarica for a true rainforest crossing. The route linked Suriname, Guyana, Brazil, and French Guiana with long unpaved sections, river ferries including a two day Amazon crossing, and a mix of comfortable hotels and simple overnights deep in the forest.

Highlights included a flight over Kaieteur Falls, boating on the Suriname River with a visit to an indigenous community, and the Guiana Space Centre. A 4×4 with good ground clearance was required, navigation ran on a roadbook with waypoints, and technical support was on hand while the organisation stayed active in the background.
