We set out from Mumbai and traced a month-long line across the Himalaya and East Asia. The route ran via Varanasi and the tea hills near Darjeeling into Nepal for Kathmandu, crossed high passes in Bhutan to Bumthang and Trashigang, then continued through Myanmar via Mandalay and Bagan before entering China for Kunming, Huaihua, and Shanghai. A ferry carried the cars to Japan, where Kyoto, Mount Fuji and the northern roads led to a composed finish in Tokyo.
