We gathered in San Sebastián and crossed via León to Porto for a quiet rest day, then followed the Atlantic to Ericeira, staying at Immerso before turning inland through the Serra da Estrela to Manteigas and finishing in Salamanca. Portugal gave us rain, which made the roads honest and the coastal light dramatic.

Hotels were chosen for character and location, including Casa de São Lourenço in the mountains, with the organisation active in the background so the drive could lead.
